Maker Faire Rome is this weekend. Make: Editor in Chief Keith Hammond is there along with Makey. Here are some of his photos from Day 1 and Day 2.

Maker Faire Rome Highlights
Maker Faire Rome is organized by the Chamber of Commerce in Rome and they always do a great job of placing billboards and other promotions throughout the city.

B-Shell
B-Shell is the first bistable, collapsible grid-shell structure developed by the Visual Computing Lab (VCG) at the Institute of Information Science and Technologies (ISTI-CNR). A bistable shell is a thin structural shell that maintains two distinct, stable physical configurations without needing continuous external force or energy input.

La Fiducia

Flux Capacitor
Caution: flux capacitor. \This prop from Back to the Future was created by a different maker than the DeLorean below.

Nearby was a DeLorean DMC-12 time machine, straight out of Back to the Future, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, on loan from the Enter Technikwelt Solothurn museum in Switzerland. Save the date for Solothurn’s upcoming Maker Faire in the spring.

Robots
Of course, there were robots. This one was more the size of chimpanzee. Another was rather imposing “desktop AI humanoid.”

Fine Lighting and Fashion
From my own trips to Maker Faire Rome, well-designed 3D printing lighting fixtures and unusual fashions are two of the things that the Italians do so well. They take a lot of pride integrating digital fabrication into artisanal work.

Arduino
And of course, Arduino was a major exhibitor at Maker Faire Rome and they featured a lot of projects that use Arduino.

Autonomous Mobile Robot
The Arduino Uno Q was also a star of the show!
