Moments from Maker Faire Bay Area

A slideshow of highlights from the 16th edition of Maker Faire Bay Area, the second at Mare Island

Maker Faire Bay Area took place on Mare Island on October 18-20, 2024. We had a great turnout with 27,000 people on site over three days to experience 350 maker exhibits and dozens of presentations. Among the performances were Diet Coke and Mentos by EepyBird, Mario the Maker Magician and Science Bob from CrunchLabs with a special appearance by Mark Rober. It was an incredible event — the best that Maker Faire can be.

Moments from Maker Faire Bay Area

I put together this slideshow from photos taken by Art Director Juliann Brown, Make: Editor-in-Chief Keith Hammond and myself. It captures some of the highlights from the 16th edition of Maker Faire Bay Area.

Blue Ribbon Winners

Here is a collection of makers who were awarded an Editor’s Choice blue ribbon for their project. One person who we asked to make the awards said: “I had no idea how much friggin joy this ribbon would cause.” Editor Keith Hammond said: “srsly people go gaga when they get a ribbon.  It's like all their obsessions and sacrifices against the doubters ... recognized, vindicated!”

Maker Faire Rome this weekend

Make: Editors Keith Hammond and David Groom are in Rome this weekend for Maker Faire Rome, which opened today.

Make’s Wefunder

Seeing all the people who came to Maker Faire Bay Area and the impact that we have makes me even more committed to our mission and sustaining it into the future. What photos don’t capture is the feeling one has being in the presence of so many creative, smart makers and the vibrant creative communities that they are a part of. I really wish we could create a Maker Faire in every city in America, in every city in the world.

You can find information about our community round on wefunder.com/make. We're excited to offer you this chance to invest before it opens to the general public. Those who invest before November 15, 2024 will receive a numbered certificate and special recognition in the next issue of Make: magazine in 2025, which is our 20th Anniversary issue!
